Model Railway Readers' Layouts - October 2011
Want more readers' layouts? Choose 'Layout Focus' from the 'Jump to A Category' box above.

This week's line-up of readers' layouts includes model railways from Michael Brooks and Nick Dale.

Michael Brooks sent us some photographs of his layout project. Michael writes:

" I am amazed at how far the hobby has advanced, the technical side of this hobby may well be above me with DCC etc but I get great pleasure and satisfaction from the scrap building side and the scenics. I have one engine which is a Bachman 0-6-0 Collet goods which I've heavily weathered, I have constructed a 4ft by 2ft Diorama. Twin mainline with a branch going into a coal yard."

"The wonderfull thing about this hobby is that my young grandson is showing a great interest in trains and has gone past his Thomas stage and questions me on how the old trains were, its a delight to do this hobby and I have been helped greatly by the various magazines available from which I chose BRM"

"The rocks are polystyrene, coal staithes from scrap and Peco code 100 is my prefered track. It has moved on considerably since these pics were taken and I'm toying with the idea of a second Diorama. My prefered era is 4-5 mainly due to the road vehicles of that time and the start of British Rail"

Nick Dale of Staffs sent us some fascinating photographs of his 'micro' layout. He writes:

"I have been interested in model railways all my life but have never had the space for a layout or so I thought. Inspired by pictures of micro layouts in magazines I decided to see how much layout I could get into a small space without looking too cluttered. A layout in a box ( A4 box file) is the result."
