Highlights from the National Festival of Railway Modelling 2011 at Peterborough
27 October 2011
On 15th and 16th October, thousands of modellers travelled from across the country to enjoy The National Festival of Railway Modelling - and with FREE expert demonstrations, fantastic layouts and a comprehensive selection of exhibitors they weren’t disappointed.
Over 30 working layouts were on display in a variety of scales and gauges from the small Z gauge to the larger G-scale and representing periods from the days of early steam right through to the present day. Alongside this was over 80 exhibitors selling a variety of modelling items, including tools, parts, models, accessories, memorabilia and specialist items.
‘Amberdale, Layout in a Shed’ made its first appearance at The National Festival of Railway of Railway Modelling. Amberdale is an OO gauge layout created within the walls of a typical shed and visitors were amazed to see the type of layout they could create at home. Running alongside Amberdale was the BRM Theatre where experts gave FREE presentations on layout construction.
The weekend was a great success and there was certainly plenty to look at. See some selected highlights in our photo gallery below. A highlights video can be found here. Many thanks to the visitors, exhibitors and traders for taking part, and if we missed you in the highlights this year we hope to catch you next time around.
